How would you describe your experience being a part of Spring Awakening?
Even though Spring Awakening was part of my actor training, I can say that it was a wonderful experience even though it was stressful at times. We made the whole play in just a month, so we all had to rush to pull it together. The character I played, Hanschen Rilow, was such a challenge for me because we are so different. It took me a while to find the character and feel comfortable in the role. But in the end, it was very rewarding, and the cast and costars were so very talented.
What inspired you to study acting and music?
Since I was a child, I’ve always felt drawn to art, specifically acting and singing. My dad used to be a musician, and my grandmother is a writer, so creativity is in my blood. I took singing classes when I was younger and started acting two years ago.
What aspect of music and acting do you love?
The fact that I am able to become someone else and tell their story is what I love the most about acting.
Who are some of your favorite music artists?
I love Argentine singers like Emilia, María Becerra, and Nathy Peluso—especially Nathy! Her voice is one of my all-time favorites, and it would be a dream to duet with her and learn how she perfects those incredible riffs and runs. I’m also a big fan of Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez’s earlier songs. And how could I forget Kate Bush? She’s my absolute favorite musician. Her aesthetics, that ethereal high pitch—everything about her is just pure magic to me.
If you could choose to play opposite one actor in a movie, who would it be?
Oh, I would definitely pick Érica Rivas because I really admire her work and her technique.
What are some of your favorite plays and films?
I’m a huge fan of ‘80s films, particularly dark fantasy and horror, like Labyrinth, It, and The Shining. There’s something about the eerie yet enchanting vibe of that era that I can’t get enough of.
If there’s one singer you could duet with, who would it be?
It would have to be Nathy Peluso! Singing with her would be a dream come true.
What are your favorite things to do when you’re not studying or working?
Writing poetry is a big part of my life, something I inherited from my grandmother’s side of the family. Poetry has been a lifeline for me, helping in ways nothing else ever could. And swimming! I’m even considering going back to swimming classes—it’s such a great way to reset and reconnect with myself.
How would you describe your personal style and approach to fashion?
I love incorporating vibrant, colorful pieces like harem pants into my wardrobe—but always in a way that’s respectful and mindful, never crossing into cultural appropriation.
What’s next for Lautaro Astegiano? Any upcoming projects you’d like to talk about?
Yes, I have two projects coming up, though they're still in development: El Gitano de París and Mi Novio Héctor. I'm very excited about the characters and the roles.
